Tarot Tuesdays: July Breakdown

If you’ve been following along, Siren Books posts a tarot card every Tuesday on Instagram. You can find all of July’s there.

With any tarot reading, it’s essential to consider the card's meaning.

Quick guide I give before most readings: The tarot is a mirror representative of who we are and our journey. The deck is made up of 78 cards. The cards tell our story, starting with The Fool and ending with The World, known as the 22 Major Arcana cards. The details, emotion, texture, and color, as well as the added context, are found in the 56 Minor Arcana cards. The Minor Arcana are divided into four suits with fourteen cards each; they are Swords (air; thoughts, communication), Wands (fire; action, movement), Cups (water; emotion, feelings), and Pentacles (Earth; material life, tangible things).

While learning and understanding the tarot is incredibly important, using your intuition with the cards is also important. Your readings don't have to be picture or guide-perfect. Tarot is a practice; how you interpret the cards will evolve over time. Be kind to yourself while learning!

Siren’s Note: An in-depth Tarot 101 post is on the way!

In July, we pulled:

July 2: X of Cups

July 9: IV of Swords

July 16: IV of Pentacles

July 23: The Devil

July 30: IV of Wands

Card by Card

X of Cups: Representative of a celebration and emotional fulfillment. You may feel a heartfelt connection, a bond or experience happiness in a familial setting. Keywords: Happiness, satisfaction, emotional fulfillment, emotional bond

IV of Swords: Suggests it's time to recharge and reset. It's important not to jump into the next thing or challenge immediately. Take stock of your situation. Rest both your body and your mind. Regroup. Keywords: Rest, meditation, breaks, recovery

IV of Pentacles: The IV of Pentacles suggests the need for control, which could be all-consuming. The inability to share could create the appearance of greediness. Keywords: Possessiveness, fear of change, financial consideration

The Devil: The Devil doesn’t represent external forces creating chaos in your life. It’s a sign to acknowledge personal demons getting in the way of your pursuit of whatever it is you seek.

Keywords: selfishness, addiction, temptation, manipulation, misguided priorities, and greed.

IV of Wands The IV of Wands lets you know good is on the way, or it's here. All your hard work will be rewarded and celebrated. You’re feeling accomplished. Keywords: Stability, harmony, peace, social events, vacation after hard work

What the Spread Says

What an emotionally fulfilling time for this person! They feel connected and feel like they’ve reached a place to celebrate. Though that might be true, it’s essential this person takes a break to rest and recharge.

By giving their energy, they must remember to rest and not lose sight of what’s creating emotional fulfillment. This person may have become too controlling of this situation, which looks, feels, or is greedy. Take stock of what is happening and why rest is necessary.

Siren’s Note: This blog post is meant as an educational tool. Be mindful. All tarot readings vary from person to person and may not resonate with everyone. This reading is generic, based on the cards pulled in July. If you feel this reading resonates, take what makes sense and leave the rest.

The Devil is telling us this person is having difficulty resting and may or may not be getting in their way in pursuit of what provides emotional fulfillment. They may be experiencing frustration.

Removing the mental, physical, or whatever hurdle is getting in the way will give this person a break and celebration for their hard work. They'll find accomplishment in their hard work, but by doing too much too quickly, they exhaust themselves and lower the chance they'll succeed. Slow down—you're doing great! Give yourself the deep breath you deserve.

How does this message resonate? Sure, it seems generic, but that's how archetypical tools work. The message reflects in your mirror.
