A Call from The Siren

Hi friends, 

I’m Shannon, The Siren of Siren Books. I’d love to tell you more about how Siren Books came to be. 

This year began with a layoff in January. I immediately applied to more than 100 jobs, with fewer than three responses and only one interview that went nowhere. This is not a unique experience—I had enough.

In October 2023, I started getting the ball rolling for Siren Books. I always wanted to open a bookstore, but during development, I surprised myself with how much I wanted to include my gifts. I’ve been a psychic medium my whole life and have been studying tarot for a decade.

I cut my teeth as a local journalist before graduating to social media and digital marketing. From then on, my intuition led the way, whether or not I acknowledged it was what it was at the time. All the bets I took after that paid off in spades. Each professional risk came with rewards. The last seven years of my career were spent as a senior leader and decision-maker at a local financial institution and concluding at a tech start-up as the first marketing hire pre-Series A, where I stayed for the last 2.5 years.

These professional stops included threads of Siren Books. Before fully developing Siren Books, I set up multiple free libraries and book exchanges, planned dozens of events, and read tarot for co-workers for free in person and over video meetings. All this while earning my professional stripes.

My professional cred, intuition, passion, and love for books and community are the building blocks of Siren Books, which is self-funded and run. I intentionally didn't take out loans or seek partners or investors, which was vital because Siren Books needs to be entirely my own, and it is.

In July, Siren Books launched as an entirely online indie bookstore. Ignite your intuition at the crossroads of literature and tarot. You deserve to read exactly what you want when you want, get a tarot reading, hire me for events, or tap into your intuition for business. I’m so proud it’s here!

Everything created for Siren Books is curated and crafted by me. I built, designed, and copywrote the website. I penned every blog post and essay. I deliver all of the products, services, and divination services. Siren Books is entirely my creation, and who wouldn't be proud of that?

I’m a reformed corporate gal calling to people’s need to get to know themselves better, a lifelong journey for me. Hell yeah, I’m a proud New Jersey native. I am devoted to this fierce, scrappy state population who knows they can do anything they want, which I inherited from my family and environment. My services are available to anyone from anywhere, but Jersey is home. 

I’ve always thought I could be anything I want. I want to be the Siren, and so I am. I passionately love reading. Reading books, the room, the tarot, the messy comment section of a Bravo star, or reading the person disrespecting me to filth. I’m really like that. 

I’m interested in working with those interested in working with me. I also fiercely believe you should be exactly who you want or need by being well-read–through books, a tarot reading, or because you needed to talk out something to understand better what you need.
