The One About Ghosts

The most interesting aspect of being spiritually gifted is how often you encounter literal spirits. A fair number of people I encounter don't believe in ghostly apparitions or wish they could one day see them, too. Sometimes, it's a matter of time traveling in your memories, reevaluating an unexplainable moment, and revealing that maybe you have, in fact, met a spectacular specter.

A Ghostly Moment for You

Before I recount a couple of encounters I've had (there will be several installments of this series), let's break down some tenets of a ghost encounter. Everything shared is anecdotal. It will be slightly different for everyone.

  1. The energy shifts. Every time I've been around a ghost, there is an unmistakable change in energy. I can often sense it the moment I cross the threshold. An energetic wave washes over me, and the room's electricity becomes different. Are you somewhere that might be haunted? Pay attention to your body. What feels different?

  2. Your senses are your compass. Have you ever had a family member or friend pass, but you smelled their scent one day? What about driving in the car, thinking of the person, and almost magically, their favorite song plays? Have you watched a movie or TV show, and a specific phrase stands out to you like the words hit your heart? While it might not be a movie-quality ghost encounter, per se, your loved ones or spirit is communicating. This is a spiritual experience!

  3. Things move on their own. It's not lost on me that these things aren't normal, and certainly, having a collection of these experiences isn't either. If something moves independently and is not a draft or something you can logically explain, you might have a spirit nearby.

  4. Be open to it! Being open to everything psychic or spiritual related is crucial! Boundaries are a pillar of spiritual work and spiritual connection. It will remain closed if you say you want an experience but are closed off to it deep down. Protection is first and foremost (with all of this, get grounded), but an open heart and mind give the spirit a channel to tune into.

Now that you have laid some groundwork, you have a solid starting point for your next spiritual experience. Remember that spiritual experiences do not happen to everyone and are not for everyone, but being comfortable there is helpful.

Under the Northern Lights

Sometimes, a ghostly encounter is personal. Sometimes, they're just there. I debated what to share initially, but sometimes, recency bias is a buddy.

If you live in the States, you know how incredible it was that a powerful geomagnetic storm dazzled and danced in stunning pinks, purples, and greens. It was a lifelong dream for me to see the lights, shouting "holy shit," like Clark Griswold in my sleepy neighborhood.

To increase my chances of seeing the lights clearer and give my neighbors a better chance of sleep, I drove north with no directions or plan. I asked my guides to drop me at a church. This was a spiritual experience, after all.

My gut told me to turn right, and I went down a busy road. A sign stating Church Area Ended caught my eye. I turned around and parked at a small stone church with a connected, peaceful cemetery. Cemeteries at night don't generally spook me. I've been there after hours several times and only enter when the energy feels right and if spirit is willing to have guests.

When I got there, I felt that wave of energy and heard leaves rustling nearby, like someone walking. I wasn't uncomfortable, mainly because of the busy road and neighbors were close by. My intention that evening wasn't to be in the cemetery anyway, so I let the resting souls know that I was there to take pictures due north over the graveyard and leave. I didn't want to explore or come inside and planned to stay on the outskirts. I also let them know that while the intent is for the sky, it's likely their resting place will make it into photos, thanking them for their understanding and wishing them a peaceful slumber.

I didn't stay long or snap many pictures. Although I enjoyed my time there, the road was too busy, and the light pollution was comparable to home. So, I packed up and left.

My intuition begged me to review the photos, downloading the messages light and jumpscare from my guides. Well, wouldn't you know it, the electricity of the geomagnetic storm was perfect for spirits to really show themselves! I captured a beautiful dog and [a super cliche] hand. I couldn't believe it! These are some of the best pictures of ghosts I have ever gotten!

Both photos on the left are the original shots (all photos have been lightened slightly for better visibility). The top left is the full picture. If you look to the middle left, you'll see a bright spot. The second picture to the right is cropped to show you the ghost dog! On the bottom left is the entrance to the cemetery with a ghostly hand beckoning. The bottom right picture is zoomed in to better see the hand.

Sometimes, you won't see what's there. Our eyes don't always see what our hearts are feeling, which is applicable to many scenarios. Thank gods for cameras.

I have many more encounters and stories over my lifetime and can't wait to share more! Have you had any experiences yourself? Let us know in the comments!
